Most retiree organizations have ANNUAL dues. We chose to keep it simple and have a lifetime membership with a MINIMUM contribution. The $20 is the minimum for active lifetime membership, however several retirees have contributed more than $100 when they signed on as active members.

Perhaps the registration fee should be $0.00 for those receiving pensions less than some minimum set by the board.

Because it is chartered as a not-for-profit organization, CORRE cannot actively engage in partisan politics. So, it cannot directly encourage its membership to vote for any candidate. Members can, of course, do whatever they want as individuals on their own.

CORRE can engage in educational activities. It can and does address how representatives in Congress are engaged in issues of interest to CORRE members. That is one reason this blog has been organized- to let the CORRE members know more about what is going on, so that they can make informed choices themselves in the future.

CORRE conducts a constant, ongoing effort to educate and persuade members of Congress to do the responsible thing with Oak Ridge contractor pensions.

So, how many members are there? Can CORRE encourage its members to vote for representatives that are sympathetic to CORRE's mission? Are there restrictions on CORRE as an organization?

All retirees of Oak Ridge operating contractors are "members" of CORRE, according to the by-laws. A retiree is considered an "active member", when they have contributed $20 or more to the organization.
