If TN pension changes are not in progress by the end of the Presidential election, it's unlikely it will ever happen in my opinion. The election process provides the greatest opportunity for pension change via the political establishment and their incentives during this period. This is probably our last chance to effect real change . . . it's a shame we don't have Sen. Pete to help us the way he's taken care of NM - our delegation doesn't seem to have his political influence or drive to make things happen. We need to provide them some real incentives during what may be our last hoorah for equitable pension treatment in TN. Time is running out and our numbers are dwindling . . . if DOE can hang on long enough, our voice will be gone totally and they won't have any pension liability. Time is on their side and it's working for them.

Right on Sara Jordan !! If we retirees are too old to be heard, then we may be too old to vote for those Congressmen who refuse to listen to and act on our legitimate complaints. The pensions for Tennessee DOE contractor retirees are not even nearly comparable to our counterparts in CA, NM, IL, NY and other states where the elected Congress men and women provide vocal and visible support to their constituents on this issue. If Congressman Domenici (D-NM) were our Congressman, things would be different in Tennessee also!
