Pension Fund Decreases
On December 31, 2007, our pension fund was valued at $3.254 billion.
On July 15, 2008, it was valued at $2.904 billion.
In 2008, the stock market has not been kind to us.

Dave: Be careful or Sam will actually cut our pensions.
I would say the the market has done damn well by the Pension Trust Fund! DOE hasn’t had to add a dime since 1964. Of course, my pension not keeping up with inflation may have helped too.
All I can say is that this administration has some strange idead about Compassionate Conservatism, social responsibility.
Just think about how many non-pension plans you could fund with $2.904 billion and never add a red cent to the principal. Of course, sam would have to pay the postage for mailing the non-checks out of his own federal pension.

Is there any rule that says you can’t comment on your own comment?
I’m begining to feel like the Maytag Repair Man; but then ‘I like to comment to a sensible man and I like to hear a sensible man comment’. So here goes.
Why are the 700-800 retirees that have e-mail (I have your addresses) so mute (I’m tempted to say dumb?) about the subject of pensions? Has every one but me received an equitable adjustment? Do not retirees realize this is indeed a campaign and one needs to flood the communication lines to stir up the victims (voters)? It takes effort to buck the system and get something done.
I like Barrack Obama’s book title “The Audacity of Hope” and its message of what hope turned into words, actions and votes can do. Are we going to follow Dante’s “All ye who enter here have no hope, for all is lost” or will we follow Obama’s lead and fight for what we feel is right.
CORRE Blog postings and e-mails to legislators and to presidential candidates are free; and they don’t need to be literary masterpieces, just show your emotion and determination to succeed at the ballot box if necessary. As for the CORRE Blog please write, I’m getting lonelier by the minute.
Oh yes, as for the pension trust fund falling with the stock market, wouldn’t it be terrible if, after 24 years of freeloading, DOE had to make a contribution to the fund? I’d laugh all the way to my electronic deposit.
